At the time, rumors had all but been confirmed the Norse Tower’s removal and replacement with the Rogers-Kennedy Memorial monument. The town had already lost Institute Park bridge in 1922 and many were afraid the Norse Tower would be next. The memorial had to be placed within one mile of the city town hall. The Norse Tower’s location fit that requirement perfectly and many thought of it as a way of hitting two birds with one stone. The Recreation Commission had already declared the tower impossible to make safe without a complete restructuring.</text>
